Amatierra is a family-owned business nestled in the mountains of Oaxaca, dedicated to crafting handmade, customizable medicine drums.
Since its beginning, Amatierra has offered immersive workshops where participants learn how to build and play their own drums. These experiences go beyond craftsmanship — they invite people to reconnect with their voice and heart, using rhythm to express prayers, intentions, and inner truth.

Thea Fischer
Thea is an abuela of the Danza de Xochimextli. She has danced within the circle for seven years, often leading chants that carry through the night. She keeps a large huehuetl drum and leads a weekly drum and singing circle. Thea also guides women’s circles and temazcales and teaches voice-liberation courses, supporting others in reclaiming their voice through rhythm and song.
Fabian Blumer
Fabian approaches drum making from a more artisanal and structural perspective. A builder by trade, he specializes in natural building and is an experienced carpenter. Years of living in community have given him deep experience in holding groups and guiding workshops, bringing both skill and presence into his work.
Komunidad Kolinda
Thea and Fabi live in Komunidad Kolinda, an intentional community nestled in the mountains of the Sierra Sur in Oaxaca. Kolinda is home to three families living in close relationship with the land, growing food and sharing daily life. The community offers beautiful cabins for visitors, as well as silent retreats, temazcales, and medicine ceremonies.
